MISSION
Our mission is clear, to connect innovators with Telefónica and generate joint business opportunities. We are the interface between Telefónica and entrepreneurial ecosystems across the globe. The scouter helps us to find and analyse the best startups in Spain and Europe for Telefónica.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Future trend scouting: finding the best startups in Spain and Europe for Telefónica!
- Scouting of startups who are world class disruptors for new investments and / or candidates to engage with Telefónica.
- Building, maintaining, and nurturing challenging relationships with founders of innovative startups that revolutionize different industries and different players of the startup ecosystem in Spain and Europe.
- Looking outside Telefónica to bring in new products and insights to our business.
- Working together with the Head of Business Development (aka "fitter"), who understands Telefónica's needs and opportunities, to hunt for startup talent outside the Company catching future trends.
- Building relationship with Telefónica and Wayra Global to understand internal needs and challenges.
- Maintaining relationship with institutional teams of other companies, government bodies and local and international investment funds.
- Focusing on strategic areas and global digital products with strong FIT and technological advantage.
- Shouting out our investment thesis: bigger tickets, never alone, flexible terms, priority areas and business development with Telefónica.
- Deep analysis of opportunities: numbers, technology, competitors, team, business plan...
- In charge of all the analysis, validation and selection process, leading the due diligence and negotiation with candidates.
REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of startup ecosystem is a must. The ideal candidate is already playing a role (can be junior or even non-professional role) in this ecosystem in Spain (and/or Europe) and already knows “who is who”.
- Natural curiosity about new technologies and innovations.
- Proven experience in activities related to the analysis of new business opportunities and business plans, ideally as business analyst for a venture fund or other business areas (experience of 1-2 years).
- Demonstrated analytical and financial skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship skills with proven capability to develop trust relationships with startups and different ecosystem players.
- Basic legal knowledge and trainings related to the role will be appreciated.
- Advanced knowledge of excel and other MSOffice products.
- Fluent in English and Spanish, both oral and written.
