New Additive Manufacturing Materials Engineer en Sant Cugat del Vallès

Business Context

HP launched 3 years ago a unique technology and business model to disrupt the market and open a new world in the 3D printing industry and we want you to be part of this exciting opportunity that we've in front of us.
This role requires printer technical understanding, and printable materials fundamentals knowledge, plus analytical skills.

This person will lead interaction with the Material Generation teams to manage the introduction, Beta phases, delivery, and product support from the Operations team. While at the same time stabilizing an immature solution.

The role is critical to expand MJF into new applications and grow the portfolio of supported materials in this technology.

Responsibilities

  • Materials Engineers design, improve, evaluate and validate materials for its use in 3D printing and develop machinery and processes to improve the quality of printed 3D parts according to desired performance specifications.
  • Material engineers participate in the development of new materials, new uses for known materials and investigate, understand and optimize existing materials and its interaction with the 3D printing mechanism, ensuring the material meets optimized properties and fulfills its intended use.
  • Design and implement processes to manage field escalations, material qualification and overall system/solution performance stabilization
  • Network with the Material development teams to link on the product lifecycle activities.
  • Develop solutions robustness requirements and set the necessary expectations on both product and materials sides.
  • Be a trusted partner to our R&D Engineering, Product, and cross-functional teams, connecting the dots, and enabling faster decision making and execution.
  • Make data-driven recommendations for planning production forecast.
  • Coordinating programs for new and existing initiatives, developing proof of concept cases for new projects.

Qualifications/requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD. degree in Chemistry or in Materials/Industrial Engineering and/or equivalent Scientific disciplines. Plastics specific education will be highly valued.
  • Fast learner. Proactive in acquiring autonomous knowledge in record time. Competency and skill growth focus. Independent judgment and ability to drive convergence and decisions
  • Results oriented and customer centric. Ability to communicate technical data, issues and proposed solutions at different levels
  • Hands on approach and proficiency in experimental design. Familiar with DOE and data/statistical analysis techniques
  • Excellent program management skills, including leading large, cross-functional initiatives that impact the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders
  • Flexible, able to work with a wide variety of personalities.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship, teamwork, and communication skills. Fluent spoken and written English
  • Comfortable working under pressure in time, and from multiple stakeholders.
  • Able to work in “the grey zone”, and help organizations set course, and maintain it.
