AREA DESCRIPTION

The "Corporate Regulation and Public Policy" department develops the position of Telefónica on key regulatory and public policy issues, and advocates for it in public fora, public consultations and bilateral meetings with regulators and other industry players. The vacancy would be assigned to the "Spectrum Policy and Regulatory Intelligence" unit, which is responsible for gathering insights from regulatory and market developments around the world, particularly on spectrum policy, and feeding them into the positions of Telefonica.

 

MISSION

Be relevant for the advocacy team of Telefonica by providing insights on regulatory developments around the world and adapting them to the particular circumstances of the different Telefonica business units.

 

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The succesful candidate will be assigned key regulatory topics of relevance to Telefonica, based on its experience and expertise. She/he will be asked to identify and follow up relevant developments on the topic, participate in the elaboration of the Telefónica position and engage in the external advocacy. The candidate is expected to be proactive in the selection of regulatory issues of interest and in the initiatives related to it, eventually being able to create and manage a personal agenda.

 

NATURE OF PROBLEMS & CHALLENGES

The regulatory environment in which Telefonica makes business is constantly changing to respond to new policy concerns. Shaping that environment requires not only an understanding of the aims and tools of policymakers, but most importantly constant engagement with Telefonica's Business units to mutually understand how regulation impacts our commercial propositions and competitive constraints.

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED

Background on Economics, Law, Telecom Engineering or equivalent.

 

SPECIFIC SKILLS

Written and spoken communication abilities, empathy to understand the point of view of regulators and policy makers, able to convey convincingly the arguments and positions of Telefonica.

Able to identify and propose new projects and initiatives where her/his job could be valuable for the team.

 

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

Not required

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Experience in telecoms or digital services, preferably in business, strategy or regulatory roles (2 - 5 years)

 

LANGUAGES

Fluent written and spoken English
