This is a country leadership role for Disney’s Consumer Productions Commercialisation business. The General Manager will lead the local creation and execution of channel and shopper marketing strategies, adopting a “franchise first” approach. He or she will take fiscal guidance and leadership from the regional franchise and category leads, executing global and regional franchise and category strategies in Spain and Portugal. The individual will create country level channel plans, using data and insights and deploying resources to optimise The Walt Disney Company’s (TWDC) presence in the region. Within each channel, the GM will create a business plan with key licensees to provide accurate revenue forecasts to the regional teams. The GM will also work closely with key retailers in the local market, building strategic partnerships. He or she will hold regular meetings with both local licensees and retailers, ensuring that TWDC is aligned to their growth strategies.
Working with the regional marketing and franchise teams, the GM will be expected to deliver leading edge demand creation plans through the local shopper marketing teams. These demand creation plans will be insight led. They will provide a platform for licensees to align behind throughout the year in order to deliver the 365 franchise strategy, as well as optimising key moments in the year, such as Easter, Christmas and major movie releases. The GM will also make recommendations to the category leads about the deployment of business models with retailers. In addition, working with the local Direct-to-Consumer & International (DTCI) teams whenever synergy opportunities arise, as well as with the Parks teams through the centralized marketing teams is key.
Strategy
Translate, localize and execute franchise strategies, delivering both franchise and Line of Business (LOB) targets in key retailers in Spain and Portugal
Define and socialize the demand creation plan with the regional teams to ensure all possible opportunities are delivered upon
Create a meaningful channel strategy, wherever possible aligning and leading local licensee franchise and Line of Business plans to optimize the shopper opportunity
Create retail strategies through an in-depth understanding of their needs
Wherever possible create joint business plans with retailers to track success
Create and execute the shopper marketing plan and calendar with key retailers
Leadership
Responsible for setting retail and channel goals, allocating resources and driving execution, for the local retail and shopper marketing teams
Lead, engage and motivate the local retail and shopper marketing teams through defining ambitious but achievable goals
Act as the lead CPC executive in TWDC local meetings, ensuring the voice of CPC is heard locally and synergy opportunities are delivered
Employ and engage world class talent, putting TWDC on the map as an organisation that is diverse, energetic, creative, supportive, commercial and competitive
Category Management
Define, develop and execute a comprehensive franchise-first business plan
Align category specific strategies and business plans with the overall territory plan
Sales Targets, Plans and Budgets
Work closely with the category/franchise regional leads to agree annual growth targets by key retail and licensee account, ensuring financial goals are achieved
Maximize sales opportunities for all lines of business, licensees and promotional partners
Work closely with Advertising Sales to drive and implement successful programmes at retail
Deliver strategic marketing initiatives that maximise revenues and support key franchises on the marketing calendar
In close partnership with regional marketing group, manage the shopper marketing budget locally
Public Relations
Support the communications teams to proactively promote all local activity to promote franchise initiatives at retail and more broadly across the market
Lead product PR to local business, trade and consumer press, enhancing and protecting the reputation of TWDC and CPC
Support the creation of consumer events as appropriate and work with licenses to capitalise on their events and communications
Franchise Management
Support the regional franchise leads in the local execution of the franchise strategy, working closely with regional marketing teams to optimise franchise events at retail
Lead all local franchise communication to licensees and retailers
Lead the Licensing and Retail Showcase presentations in the local market
Finance - Operations - Legal
Responsibility for the country product franchise and line of business P&L
Financial responsibility: strategic plan, forecast cycle, AOP, margin management, cost management
In conjunction with country requirements, legal responsibility for signature of local licensing and promotional agreements and dealing with legal issues in territory
Degree educated
MBA an asset, but not a requirement
Proven track record in sales, marketing and retail
In-depth knowledge of licensing
Strong relationships with retailers (Spain and Portugal)
Significant leadership and team management experience
Blend of strategic and operational skills
Multi-national experience/understanding (preferably across Europe)
Experience in business partnering with the most senior business leaders
Strong external network across the profession/industry
Experience of working in a matrix organization
Track record of consistently hitting / over delivering fiscal targets
Fluent Spanish and English
